Footnote 409
According to the "Journal of the Siege of Orleans", this initial assault on Jargeau was led by Dunois, Saint-Severe, Graville, Courraze, and Sainctes-Trailles; several assaults were launched over a period of about three hours in order to ascertain whether it was feasible to place the town under siege. They decided in the negative, since high water levels had flooded the trenches in front of the English positions.
