Footnote 629
From the Rehabilitation testimony of François Garivel on March 7, 1456: "...when Jehanne was asked why she called the King 'Dauphin' and not 'King': she replied that she wouldn't call him King until he was crowned and anointed at Rheims, to which city she intended to bring him..." (For the original language, see: DuParc's "Procès en Nullité...", Vol I, p. 328; Quicherat's "Procès...", Vol III, p. 20. For translations, see Oursel's "Les Procès de Jeanne d'Arc", p. 251, and Pernoud's "The Retrial of Joan of Arc", p. 99).
Mathieu Thomassin similarly said, "She called my lord Dauphin 'the noble Dauphin' and called him this until he was crowned." (for a transcription of the original language, see Quicherat's "Procès...", Vol IV, p. 304).
